The team at yoUnlimited LOVEs reading and finding new writers and books, almost as much as connecting like minded women together so a yoUnlimited event that featured women writers is one of our offerings! Once a month, an author will joins us at the 24 Carrot Centre to share their work and wisdom, and we have their book(s) available for sale.

Julie Paul has published two collections of short stories, The Jealousy Bone (Emdash, 2008), and The Pull of the Moon (Brindle & Glass, 2014). Stories, poems and essays have appeared in many literary journals, including The Dalhousie Review, The Fiddlehead, Event, PRISM International and The Rusty Toque. Julie has taught creative writing for beginners through Camosun College’s Continuing Ed department for many years, was part of the Malahat Fiction Editorial board for two years, and spent two years as one of the artistic directors of The Victoria Writers Festival. She is currently at work on a novel rewrite and a poetry manuscript. When she’s not writing, she works as a massage therapist and massage therapy instructor. She lives with her daughter and husband in Victoria, BC and at www.juliepaul.ca
Arleen Paré’s first book, Paper Trail, won the Victoria Butler Book Prize and was a finalist for BC Books’ Dorothy Livesay Prize in Poetry. She has two other books, Leaving Now, a novel, and most recently, Lake of Two Mountains, a collection of linked poetry which won the 2014 Governor General’s prize for poetry. Her fourth book,This Inflammable Mercy, a collection of poetry, is forthcoming from Caitlin Press, Fall 2015. Her writing has appeared in several literary journals and anthologies in Canada. She holds an MSW, an MA and MFA in poetry from the University of Victoria. www.arleenpare
