What book do you recommend most to others? The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruis – 4 simple agreements to guide me daily – don’t take things personally is the most challenging for me, tho it causes me to put my BIG girl pants on!

How do you relax? I relax through the daily practise of yoga that I first hit the mat 3 years ago thro the advise of my neurosurgeon – restorative yoga at Ajna gives me my balance back!

Best hike or outdoor spot on the island? Hiking along the beach is the best….who knows when you might discover a starfish! The huge wide big beach at Tofino along Wikininish is the best….as is the walk between Barra de Navidad and Melaque (opps that is off island) who plays by the rules and misses all the fun?

Restaurant or cook at home? As a singlet, these days I love to hit up local restaurants, ones that share authentic ethnic cuisine for under $10.00, its a game I play! It’s a good thing Victoria has the highest per capita restaurants around!!!! yum yum Foo, La Taquerita, Pig, and the food trucks are favourites!

Favourite recipe? Rum balls- a family tradition that we make every Christmas! Watch out for all that rum, two balls are plenty! The recipe, is in the “McCorry Family” Cookbook and Joanie was kind enough to share it with us too!

Who has had the biggest impact on your life, and why? My Mother, Barbara Ruth Jensen McCorry who led the way in my passion for being a volunteer and community contribution. I always knew her as a volunteer as she left her teaching career to be at a stay at home mom to her 4 appreciative daughters who benefitted greatly! My mom now has Alzheimers, and I feel like I carry on her spirit of community by stepping up to the plate of making a difference!

If you could share a meal with anyone (alive or passed), who would it be? If I could share a meal with anyone, it would be with my mom and dad! My mom was an adventurous cook who liked to try new recipes all the time! Her 4 daughters follow in her footsteps of cooking with passion of the different! I would love to gather around the groaning board with all my family to savour the goodness and laughter of family feasting! The day would start with my dad making us french toast or waffles, as weekend breakfasts were his kingdom! He cooked me french toast 2 weeks ago! I would love to be able to chat with my mom over a martini, outside her assisted care facility! I love you mom! xoxo

What is your favourite quote and who said it?Passion is taking such a bite out of life that when the juices run down your face, everyone licks their lips” Chuck Spezzano
